Burnett On Manager Chance

Burnett On Manager Chance

Wayne Burnett has again said that he knew this day was coming where he took the reigns of Dagenham and Redbridge, but he didn't quite think it would be this quick.

Speaking to the BBC Burnett explained.

'It was the intention that I may take over one day when John steps up or down. It happened quite suddenly. I didn't envisage he would go so soon but I am absolutely delighted the board have given me the opportunity.'

Burnett says it is strange because in the years he's been here John has been in charge, so to find himself now in the position of stamping his authority on the team is both challenging, exciting but also slightly a nervous time because it's so new to him being at this level, but he's going to give it all he has regardless.

'You certainly feel more responsibility. I have probably had hal the sleep I usually have. You're responsible for not only the players, but also the coaches and you represent the football club. I am mindful of that.'
