We Couldn't Offer Enough For Williams

The biggest surprise in the released list was Sam Williams, as despite injury hampering him since he joined the club, he still made 46 appearances finding the net 11 times.

He obviously joined us back in 2011 after being released by Yeovil, but Wayne Burnett revealed he wouldn't sign for the money we were able to offer him and he's probably going to be the biggest loss from the released list.

Speaking to the Official Site about the players he felt were right to not be offered new contracts, Burnett said firstly of Williams.

'Sam Williams has been unfortunate with injury's whilst here but he wouldn't sign for the money we could offer him.'

Burnett said he felt it was time for Kevin Maher to move on because despite being a fantastic lead and good professional he believes he has more to offer another team.

He added of Dominic Green.

'(He) has all the ability in the world but he hasn't performed well enough and I think this was right for him and right for the club.'

As for Burns, Davie and Reynolds, Burnett says that they did well enough whilst out on loan this season but he didn't feel they would make enough of an impact in the first team next season, so he feels for the club, their development would be better suited elsewhere.
