Hines Not Only Looking To Climb The League Table
24 year old summer signing Zavon Hines has said that he doesn't just want to help Dagenham and Redbridge climb the league table, he also wants to climb the goalscoring table on a personal level.
Hines has made a pretty reasonable start to life at Dagenham after signing a one year deal over the summer, and he's already flown to the top of the assists chart, creating four goals in his last five games, but he's not finished there, because he wants to get on the scoresheet far more often himself.
Speaking to London24 the former West Ham youngster said that he'd be delighted to get his debut goal for the club in tomorrow's game away to Morecambe.
'I'm quite pleased with how it has started, our performances have been good and I'm sitting at the top of the assists chart. The main thing for me is that I want to score and that's the only thing I've been disappointed with. If I continue to play well and get a few goals in the process I can't ask for any more.'
Hines admits that creating a goal is just as good for the team as scoring one himself, but obviously scoring himself is something that every player wants to do as it's more special to them, and being a forward minded player he believes it's about time he got off the mark, but obviously the main focus is on performing well and doing his job for the team - not just taking the headlines himself.
He admitted as well in the interview that settling into life at Dagenham hadn't been as difficult as he thought it might have been, and that's probably been helped because the move to the club meant he could return to his London roots, with family and friends being close by, and that's probably played a good part in him finding his feet so well as he's settled in life now.
