Murphy Loving Life As A Dagger

Murphy Loving Life As A Dagger

Striker Rhys Murphy has taken to the Official Site to discuss his life at Dagenham and Redbridge so far, as well as his late equaliser against Morecambe last weekend.

The 22 year old striker started his career at AFC Wimbledon before making the switch to Arsenal Academy. During his time with the London club he enjoyed loan spells out at League One sides Brentford and Preston North End where he made five appearances for both sides, but failed to find the net.

His youth life at Arsenal saw him score an impressive 17 goals in 21 matches, but they surprisingly let him go last summer along with fellow Dagger Gavin Hoyte.

Murphy then made the move to Dutch side SC Telstar where he did make first team appearances, but the it was mutually agreed to cancel his contract as he wanted to return to England.

He joined us this summer and has so far made eight appearances, scoring on three occasions - all in the league.

'Hopefully me and Zavon can improve our partnership, he's a good option and very talented. The late equaliser against Morecambe shows we don't give up and we are confident in ourselves to go away and pick up points this season.'

He adds that the way the manager Wayne Burnett wants Dagenham to play this season suits him down to the ground, so that's helped him settle in both on and off the pitch.
