Manager Wayne Burnett has said he was thrilled and delighted with the attacking performance of Dagenham last night in the game against Accrington Stanley.
Dagenham went two goals to the good in the second half, and Accrington only managed a 90th minute consolation goal - their only shot on target - so Daggers margin could've been slightly bigger in reality.
But the match marked summer signing Zavon Hines' first goal for the league and Rhys Murphy found the net for the third match in a row, so overall it's clear to see why the gaffer was delighted with his charges over 90 minutes.
Speaking to London24 following the result, Burnett said that even once Accrington got their goal late in the game, whilst it was a bit nervy for the players, he thought we were always in control of the game and he didn't really feel we'd let them back into it properly.
'I thought we played reasonably well tonight, we passed the ball well. When you score people's mindsets change a little and we got on top of the game.'
As for the first half, he did find that a little disappointing because he thought it was quite evenly matched where both sides had chances without ever really threatening, but then he knew it would be a tough game as despite their current league placing and form, he knows that Accrington have some solid and dangerous players, and that's one of the reasons he was delighted with our second half showing because we really demonstrated what we were capable of doing.
Both goals for us came from quick 'classic' counter attacking football, and the manager is pleased to see that starting to pay off as an option for us, as even in games like this where things are tight and we are unable to play through and create, it shows that we have a resilience and desire to attack with intent, with pace, and make the most of a maybe unexpected opportunity, and importantly be clinical enough to make it count when we need to.
For Burnett it means we keep our form going delightfully, we remain unbeaten in five and keep ourselves solidly in the top half of the table...but more importantly he feels teams will now look upon us differently as we have another string to our bow and we have shown that even when a match is level, we only need a chance to change things our way.
