Excellent Result For Burnett
Following on from our one nil victory over Rochdale at Spotland last weekend, manager Wayne Burnett has described it as an 'excellent result' for the club.
A solitary goal from Rhys Murphy just after the hour mark was enough to give Dagenham and much needed victory after five attempts since the Wimbledon win, and it lifts us nicely back into shouting distance within the play off places.
Speaking to the Official Site Burnett said he hoped the win, especially as we had been unbeaten in a few games, will give us good momentum again in the league campaign now so that we can continue to push on further.
'I thought it was excellent and played some decent stuff at times. They were better than us in the first half, and my opinion that they are the best team we've played this season hadn't changed. They played very well and moved the ball around nicely, but in the second half we definitely grew into the game and had the better chances.'
Burnett goes on to say that we've played three really tough games of late, Scunthorpe, Southend and then Rochdale who are all top seven sides and over those games we have been unbeaten, drawing two topped off by the Rochdale win.
With that said, the gaffer is still disappointed that we conceded three against Scunthorpe, but otherwise he's knows we've played well, and competed well, and against sides like that a return of five points from a maximum nine isn't something to sniff at.
Onwards and upwards again now for the manager after what he admits was a disappointing Christmas period.
