Murphy - We Must Remain Positive
Striker Rhys Murphy has said that Dagenham and Redbridge have to stay positive despite the disappointing result against Hartlepool on Saturday.
Speaking to the Official Site following the two nil defeat, Murphy insisted that the team have to remain positive as we head towards the end of the season because we know as a group what we are capable of achieving and capable of playing like, so we shouldn't allow ourselves to be too downhearted when results go against us and we don't reach our standards - the frustration should be used to ensure we bounce back in the next match.
We had a meeting this morning and the gaffer reminded us that the performance on Saturday wasn't good enough and won't be accepted. We have to remember what we want to achieve this year and we have to stay positive and it's important to get back to that Saturday.'
Murphy adds that he actually went and spoke to the referee following the game because he's adamant that it wasn't a foul in the build up to his goal that was disallowed and he found it deeply frustrating that it was ruled out, because at the time if we had gone one nil it would've been a very important marker in the match, and he believes we'd have gone on to take all three points.
He also said he doesn't feel the loss has put any undue and additional pressure on the team, because we have 16 games to go and plenty of points to play for if we are to reach our aim of sneaking into the play off spots, so we just have to take it game by game and let the bigger picture fall where it does, as all we have to make sure we do is take as much from each game as we can.
