Hines Relishing Burton Attention

Dagenham and Redbridge striker Zavon Hines has said he's been enjoying the attention from opposition defenders this season as they target him for special treatment and ahead of today's game against Burton Albion, he doesn't believe they will be any different, so it's a case of bring it on.

Speaking to London24 ahead of the game later this afternoon Hines said that he knows he's become the main target of interest for opposition defenders this season, but he feels he is thriving on that challenge, and of course if two or three players focus on him, it creates space that his team mates can exploit.

It's not all good news though as Hines admits our result against Hartlepool United at the last time of asking left everyone in the dressing room disappointed as we just didn't reach our own standards on the day and do all we could, but we have to put that behind us now and make up for it.

'We are all hurting from last Saturday's game and performance so we are fully focused on coming back with the three points. We didn't think Hartlepool were better than us, but we didn't do enough to win so we can't complain.'

As for his own form this season, Hines admits that being an almost ever present has helped him maintain a decent level of consistency, but he knows he started well this season, but the three games he highlights as him not being at his best and he holds his hands up to that fact.

'The last three games I haven't performed as well. I want to be effective, but I know if I'm not having a good game, I have to work hard for the team. That's something I have learnt to bring into my game.'

As for the main lead in the interview, his attraction for defenders, he says that friends at other clubs have told him that the manager has been instructing people to double up on him, and he takes it as a compliment and a challenge he has to rise to even though he admits it can be tough at points.

No other way of taking that kind of attention really is there - it shows he's doing more right than wrong.
