Burnett Positive On Fixtures

Manager Wayne Burnett has reacted positively to the announcement of our fixture schedule for 2014-15.

When the fixtures were announced yesterday morning, our manager was on hand to talk to the Official Site and he said in his intitial reaction.

'I think the fixtures are quite good, the first game is a home game, which is always a great way to start. We've got three home games if you include the League Cup and two away fixtures in the opening month and that's nice.'

Having mentioned the Cup draw where we will face Brentford, he also added.

'We haven't had many home cup ties so it's nice to get one. It's going to be a very difficult game and it was a decent game last season when we played them in the same competition. I'm under no illusions with how difficult the match against Brentford is going to be, they got promoted last year and have some excellent players.'

Adding to Burnett's home joy is the fact that we have been drawn at home on Boxing Day to relegated side Stevenage, and he feels the home advantage there is a nice return for the fans who do face some lengthy weekday trips if they are travelling away on those two times especially.

He also added his thanks and appreciation for the fans and their efforts to follow the lads again, because he knows it takes a huge effort timewise and also financially in this climate, but it really is well appreciated by the players and the club.

With Luton gaining promotion we will also be reunited with former manager John Still and Burnett is looking forward to meeting up with him and believes that the fans will give him a warm reception before hopefully seeing the side consign him to two defeats.

In terms of a fixture change, our game against Shrewsbury has been moved from Saturday April 4, to April 3 which is Good Friday and it will kick off at 3pm.

This will enable us to have an additional day prior to the Easter Monday fixture.
