Howell - Friendly Defeats Won't Phase Us

Howell - Friendly Defeats Won't Phase Us

Midfielder Luke Howell has said that although the defeats we have suffered in pre season so far haven't been what we wanted, it's all about fitness and working on things for the campaign at this stage of the season so the results really don't matter.

Howell was speaking to the Official Site following the MK Dons game, and he explained.

'Pre season has been good so far, we've had a trip to Spain which has been good. Personally I think the trip was really beneficial, I got to spend a lot of time with the lads. We've got a few new signings which I also got to know a bit more, you get to know each other, we only went for three days but that's all we needed.'

As for the pre season friendlies themselves so far, Howell was quick to point out the fitness elements we are working towards rather than the results being of importance.

'It's a long old season, you just want to build your fitness up for the start and go from there. We're not really looking at results, it's more about the style of play that we want to play. I don't need to say that Saturday's result against Ebbsfleet was disappointing, we looked a different side and treated it more like a league game.'

It was still a one nil loss though, and we could do with results turning to start building that winning mentality and get some confidence in them.
